How to size a water booster set
A booster set keeps water pressure constant when the mains is not enough or several outlets run at once. Sizing it well prevents pressure drops and waste.
1. Peak flow
Estimate how many outlets can open together (diversity factor). Sum the individual flows and apply the coefficient: for a 20-flat building the real peak is far below the theoretical sum.
2. Required head
Account for the static lift (building height), pipe friction losses and the minimum pressure required at the least-favoured outlet (typically 1.5–2 bar at the tap).
3. Number of pumps
A multi-pump set (2–4 pumps) gives modulation and redundancy: pumps stage in with demand, and if one stops the others keep the service. With an inverter the pressure stays constant.
4. Tank and sensors
A small diaphragm tank absorbs peaks and prevents too-frequent starts; the pressure sensor drives the inverter.
